In addition to the service carried out by Lions under the global pillars of Vision, Diabetes, Hunger, Environment Protection, Pediatric Cancer & Youth development Lions of Sri Lanka have come together to raise funds to purchase medical and laboratory equipment for the health sector as Sri Lanka does not have sufficient laboratory equipment that are crucial for us to fight the Covid19 pandemic as a nation.

After discussions with the Health Ministry to get an understanding on the immediate and medium term requirements, Lions Multiple District 306 has set up the ‘LIONS OF SRI LANKA COVID 19 RELIEF FUND’ and drawn up a program to collect funds towards the purchase of medical/ laboratory equipment in a 2-phase program.

This ambitious program is undertaken by Lions as the lives of all Sri Lankans depends on a well-equipped healthcare system. Sri Lanka is facing a challenging time due to the delay in receiving Covid-19 test results amid the rising numbers of coronavirus cases, as there is an under supply of equipment in addition to which the current equipment is failing due to high use. LCIF the funding arm of Lions Clubs International will support Lions of Sri Lanka in the mission to purchase a new PCR machine.
